Overheating: When your engines cooling system has exceeded its ability to cool and has passed the maximum temperature limits. A 50/50 mixture of coolant and water boils at 265 degrees , the average vehicles cooling fans come on between 215 degrees and 225 degrees. SO as you can see there is only 40-50 degrees between normal operating temperature and the point your cooling system becomes ineffective. At Valdosta Tires Auto Service we understand how important a properly functioning engine cooling system is to your engines health. When that temperature light comes on/or that temperature needle approaches the red its very important (( STOP ! )) Don’t try to make it home, Don’t try to make it to a Shop, Pull over safely and STOP ! Shut off the engine. It is always cheaper to have your vehicle towed than it is to replace an engine !
